pulse audio incompatibilities

Crystal space is unable to output correctly to pulseaudio either with the oss and alsa plugin. This was tested with planeshift stable rev. 1933, cs rev. 30463 on an ubuntu desktop (leaving default audio configuration except the additional support for alsa applications trough the pulse audio alsa virtual device (check  http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=789578) With the oss plugin with padsp the application segfaults almost immediately, with the alsa plugin (default device is pulse in this case as you can see from the topic linked above) you get no audio.

i've an additional test case with sndtest from the apps crystal space directory: it segfaults with the alsa plugin i've attached a strace of it

CrystalSpace also has an OpenAL plugin, maybe it's worthwhile to see how that behaves.

the openal plugin seems to work although it has serious lag. (trough alsa)

Is this issue still valid.

What version of Ubuntu do you see the issue with? Is this a 32 or a 64 bit version?
